The West Course at Firefox is formerly known as the Red Fox and is the preferred course by most members.  The course offers wide fairways and large elevated greens. Water comes into play on 6 holes different holes and requires forced carries from the back tees, however from the forward tees you do have the option of playing around the hazards.  Fairway bunkers are strategically placed and there is plenty of sand protecting the greens. This Gene Hamm design has plenty of “bail out” areas to avoid the most severe drop offs and deep faced bunkers. The G-6 hybrid bent grass greens help hold shots well on this high risk/high reward golf course.  The 2nd hole is the most difficult at Foxfire, with water along the left and a steep slope to a large green with a deceiving false front, this par 4 plays much longer than the 408 yards on the scorecard. The longest hitters may attempt to carry the water, but they need to fly the ball over 260 yards to clear the hazard. The 573 yard 12th hole from the back tees offers a tight second shot and a challenging uphill approach into a triple tiered green.
